1 And the LORD3068 said559 unto413 Samuel,8050 How long5704 4100 wilt thou859 mourn56 for413 Saul,7586 seeing I589 have rejected3988 him from reigning4480 4427 over5921 Israel?3478 fill4390 thine horn7161 with oil,8081 and go,1980 I will send7971 thee to413 Jesse3448 the Bethlehemite:1022 for3588 I have provided7200 me a king4428 among his sons.1121

2 And Samuel8050 said,559 How349 can I go?1980 if Saul7586 hear8085 it, he will kill2026 me. And the LORD3068 said,559 Take3947 a heifer5697 1241 with3027 thee, and say,559 I am come935 to sacrifice2076 to the LORD.3068

3 And call7121 Jesse3448 to the sacrifice,2077 and I595 will show3045 thee853 what834 thou shalt do:6213 and thou shalt anoint4886 unto me him853 whom834 I name559 unto413 thee.

4 And Samuel8050 did6213 853 that which834 the LORD3068 spoke,1696 and came935 to Bethlehem.1035 And the elders2205 of the town5892 trembled2729 at his coming,7122 and said,559 Comest935 thou peaceably?7965

5 And he said,559 Peaceably:7965 I am come935 to sacrifice2076 unto the LORD:3068 sanctify yourselves,6942 and come935 with854 me to the sacrifice.2077 And he sanctified6942 853 Jesse3448 and his sons,1121 and called7121 them to the sacrifice.2077

6 And it came to pass,1961 when they were come,935 that he looked on7200 853 Eliab,446 and said,559 Surely389 the LORD's3068 anointed4899 is before5048 him.

7 But the LORD3068 said559 unto413 Samuel,8050 Look5027 not408 on413 his countenance,4758 or on413 the height1364 of his stature;6967 because3588 I have refused3988 him: for3588 the LORD seeth not3808 as834 man120 seeth;7200 for3588 man120 looketh7200 on the outward appearance,5869 but the LORD3068 looketh7200 on the heart.3824

8 Then Jesse3448 called7121 413 Abinadab,41 and made him pass5674 before6440 Samuel.8050 And he said,559 Neither1571 3808 hath the LORD3068 chosen977 this.2088

9 Then Jesse3448 made Shammah8048 to pass by.5674 And he said,559 Neither1571 3808 hath the LORD3068 chosen977 this.2088

10 Again, Jesse3448 made seven7651 of his sons1121 to pass5674 before6440 Samuel.8050 And Samuel8050 said559 unto413 Jesse,3448 The LORD3068 hath not3808 chosen977 these.428

11 And Samuel8050 said559 unto413 Jesse,3448 Are here all8552 thy children?5288 And he said,559 There remaineth7604 yet5750 the youngest,6996 and, behold,2009 he keepeth7462 the sheep.6629 And Samuel8050 said559 unto413 Jesse,3448 Send7971 and fetch3947 him: for3588 we will not3808 sit down5437 till5704 he come935 hither.6311

12 And he sent,7971 and brought935 him in. Now he1931 was ruddy,132 and withal5973 of a beautiful3303 countenance,5869 and goodly2896 to look to.7210 And the LORD3068 said,559 Arise,6965 anoint4886 him: for3588 this2088 is he.1931

13 Then Samuel8050 took3947 853 the horn7161 of oil,8081 and anointed4886 him in the midst7130 of his brethren:251 and the Spirit7307 of the LORD3068 came6743 upon413 David1732 from that day4480 3117 1931 forward.4605 So Samuel8050 rose up,6965 and went1980 to Ramah.7414

14 But the Spirit7307 of the LORD3068 departed5493 from4480 5973 Saul,7586 and an evil7451 spirit7307 from4480 854 the LORD3068 troubled1204 him.

15 And Saul's7586 servants5650 said559 unto413 him, Behold2009 now,4994 an evil7451 spirit7307 from God430 troubleth1204 thee.

16 Let our lord113 now4994 command559 thy servants,5650 which are before6440 thee, to seek out1245 a man,376 who is a cunning3045 player5059 on a harp:3658 and it shall come to pass,1961 when1961 the evil7451 spirit7307 from God430 is upon5921 thee, that he shall play5059 with his hand,3027 and thou shalt be well.2895

17 And Saul7586 said559 unto413 his servants,5650 Provide7200 me now4994 a man376 that can play5059 well,3190 and bring935 him to413 me.

18 Then answered6030 one259 of the servants,5288 and said,559 Behold,2009 I have seen7200 a son1121 of Jesse3448 the Bethlehemite,1022 that is cunning3045 in playing,5059 and a mighty1368 valiant man,2428 and a man376 of war,4421 and prudent995 in matters,1697 and a comely8389 person,376 and the LORD3068 is with5973 him.

19 Wherefore Saul7586 sent7971 messengers4397 unto413 Jesse,3448 and said,559 Send7971 me853 David1732 thy son,1121 which834 is with the sheep.6629

20 And Jesse3448 took3947 an ass2543 laden with bread,3899 and a bottle4997 of wine,3196 and a259 kid,1423 5795 and sent7971 them by3027 David1732 his son1121 unto413 Saul.7586

21 And David1732 came935 to413 Saul,7586 and stood5975 before6440 him: and he loved157 him greatly;3966 and he became1961 his armorbearer.3627 5375

22 And Saul7586 sent7971 to413 Jesse,3448 saying,559 Let David,1732 I pray thee,4994 stand5975 before6440 me; for3588 he hath found4672 favor2580 in my sight.5869

23 And it came to pass,1961 when1961 the evil spirit7307 from God430 was upon413 Saul,7586 that David1732 took3947 853 a harp,3658 and played5059 with his hand:3027 so Saul7586 was refreshed,7304 and was well,2895 and the evil7451 spirit7307 departed5493 from4480 5921 him.

1 И сказал Господь Самуилу: «Сколько будешь ты печалиться о Сауле? Ты жалеешь о нём даже после того, как Я сказал тебе, что отвергаю Саула от царствования над Израилем! Наполни свой рог елеем и иди в Вифлеем. Я посылаю тебя к человеку по имени Иессей, который живёт в Вифлееме. Я выбрал новым царём одного из его сыновей».

2 Но Самуил ответил: «Если я пойду, Саул услышит об этом и попытается убить меня». Господь сказал: «Возьми с собой молодого телёнка и скажи, что ты пришёл принести жертву Господу.

3 Пригласи Иессея на церемонию жертвоприношения, а затем Я укажу тебе, что делать. Тогда ты помажешь того, кого Я укажу тебе».

4 Самуил сделал то, что сказал ему Господь. Когда он пришёл в Вифлеем, старейшины города, дрожа от страха, вышли навстречу Самуилу и спросили: «С миром ли ты пришёл?»

5 Самуил ответил: «Да, я пришёл с миром, чтобы принести жертву Господу. Освятитесь и идите со мной к жертвоприношению». Самуил освятил Иессея и его сыновей и позвал их к жертвоприношению.

6 Когда пришёл Иессей со своими сыновьями, Самуил увидел Елиава и подумал: «Наверное, это и есть тот, кого избрал Господь!»

7 Но Господь сказал Самуилу: «Елиав высок и красив, но не смотри на него. Бог смотрит не так, как смотрит человек. Люди смотрят на лицо, а Господь смотрит на сердце. Елиав — не тот человек».

8 Затем Иессей позвал второго сына, Авинадава. Авинадав подошёл к Самуилу, но Самуил сказал: «Нет, это не тот, кого избрал Господь».

9 Тогда Иессей велел Шамму подойти к Самуилу, но Самуил сказал: «Нет, и не этого избрал Господь».

10 Так Иессей подводил к Самуилу семерых своих сыновей, но Самуил сказал: «Никого из них не избрал Господь».

11 Затем он спросил Иессея: «Все ли твои сыновья здесь?» Иессей ответил, что у него есть ещё младший сын, но он пасёт овец. Самуил сказал Иессею: «Пошли за ним и приведи его сюда. Мы не сядем есть, пока он не придёт».

12 И Иессей послал за младшим сыном. Это был очень красивый юноша, с приятным лицом и волосами рыжевато-каштанового цвета. И сказал Господь Самуилу: «Встань и помажь его, так как он и есть избранник Божий».

13 Самуил взял рог с елеем и помазал младшего сына Иессея среди его братьев. И с того дня Дух Господний сошёл на Давида с великой силой. Самуил же вернулся домой в Раму.

14 Дух Господний покинул Саула. И Господь послал Саулу злого духа, который принёс ему много бед.

15 Слуги Саула говорили ему: «Злой дух от Бога тревожит тебя.

16 Прикажи нам, и мы найдём человека, который умеет играть на гуслях. И когда на тебя найдёт злой дух от Бога, этот человек будет играть для тебя и тебе станет легче от его музыки».

17 Саул сказал слугам: «Найдите человека, который хорошо играет, и приведите его ко мне».

18 Один из слуг сказал: «Я видел у Иессея, который живёт в Вифлееме, сына, умеющего играть на гуслях. Он храбр и искусен в битве, умён и красив собой. И ему помогает Господь».

19 Тогда Саул отправил послов к Иес сею и сказал: «Пошли ко мне Давида, твоего сына, который пасёт овец».

20 Иессей послал подарки Саулу. Он взял осла, немного хлеба, мех с вином и козлёнка, дал всё это Давиду и отправил его к Саулу.

21 Давид пришёл к Саулу и предстал перед ним. Саул очень полюбил его, и Давид стал его оруженосцем.

22 И послал Саул сказать Иессею: «Пусть Давид останется и служит мне, потому что он мне очень понравился».

23 И каждый раз, когда злой дух от Бога нисходил на Саула, Давид брал арфу и играл на ней. И злой дух покидал Саула, и ему становилось лучше.

1 И сказал Господь Самуилу: «Сколько будешь ты печалиться о Сауле? Ты жалеешь о нём даже после того, как Я сказал тебе, что отвергаю Саула от царствования над Израилем! Наполни свой рог елеем и иди в Вифлеем. Я посылаю тебя к человеку по имени Иессей, который живёт в Вифлееме. Я выбрал новым царём одного из его сыновей».

2 And Samuel8050 said,559 How349 can I go?1980 if Saul7586 hear8085 it, he will kill2026 me. And the LORD3068 said,559 Take3947 a heifer5697 1241 with3027 thee, and say,559 I am come935 to sacrifice2076 to the LORD.3068

2 Но Самуил ответил: «Если я пойду, Саул услышит об этом и попытается убить меня». Господь сказал: «Возьми с собой молодого телёнка и скажи, что ты пришёл принести жертву Господу.

3 And call7121 Jesse3448 to the sacrifice,2077 and I595 will show3045 thee853 what834 thou shalt do:6213 and thou shalt anoint4886 unto me him853 whom834 I name559 unto413 thee.

3 Пригласи Иессея на церемонию жертвоприношения, а затем Я укажу тебе, что делать. Тогда ты помажешь того, кого Я укажу тебе».

4 And Samuel8050 did6213 853 that which834 the LORD3068 spoke,1696 and came935 to Bethlehem.1035 And the elders2205 of the town5892 trembled2729 at his coming,7122 and said,559 Comest935 thou peaceably?7965

5 And he said,559 Peaceably:7965 I am come935 to sacrifice2076 unto the LORD:3068 sanctify yourselves,6942 and come935 with854 me to the sacrifice.2077 And he sanctified6942 853 Jesse3448 and his sons,1121 and called7121 them to the sacrifice.2077

5 Самуил ответил: «Да, я пришёл с миром, чтобы принести жертву Господу. Освятитесь и идите со мной к жертвоприношению». Самуил освятил Иессея и его сыновей и позвал их к жертвоприношению.

6 And it came to pass,1961 when they were come,935 that he looked on7200 853 Eliab,446 and said,559 Surely389 the LORD's3068 anointed4899 is before5048 him.

7 But the LORD3068 said559 unto413 Samuel,8050 Look5027 not408 on413 his countenance,4758 or on413 the height1364 of his stature;6967 because3588 I have refused3988 him: for3588 the LORD seeth not3808 as834 man120 seeth;7200 for3588 man120 looketh7200 on the outward appearance,5869 but the LORD3068 looketh7200 on the heart.3824

7 Но Господь сказал Самуилу: «Елиав высок и красив, но не смотри на него. Бог смотрит не так, как смотрит человек. Люди смотрят на лицо, а Господь смотрит на сердце. Елиав — не тот человек».

8 Then Jesse3448 called7121 413 Abinadab,41 and made him pass5674 before6440 Samuel.8050 And he said,559 Neither1571 3808 hath the LORD3068 chosen977 this.2088

10 Так Иессей подводил к Самуилу семерых своих сыновей, но Самуил сказал: «Никого из них не избрал Господь».

12 И Иессей послал за младшим сыном. Это был очень красивый юноша, с приятным лицом и волосами рыжевато-каштанового цвета. И сказал Господь Самуилу: «Встань и помажь его, так как он и есть избранник Божий».

14 Дух Господний покинул Саула. И Господь послал Саулу злого духа, который принёс ему много бед.

15 And Saul's7586 servants5650 said559 unto413 him, Behold2009 now,4994 an evil7451 spirit7307 from God430 troubleth1204 thee.

15 Слуги Саула говорили ему: «Злой дух от Бога тревожит тебя.

19 Wherefore Saul7586 sent7971 messengers4397 unto413 Jesse,3448 and said,559 Send7971 me853 David1732 thy son,1121 which834 is with the sheep.6629

19 Тогда Саул отправил послов к Иес сею и сказал: «Пошли ко мне Давида, твоего сына, который пасёт овец».

21 And David1732 came935 to413 Saul,7586 and stood5975 before6440 him: and he loved157 him greatly;3966 and he became1961 his armorbearer.3627 5375

21 Давид пришёл к Саулу и предстал перед ним. Саул очень полюбил его, и Давид стал его оруженосцем.

22 And Saul7586 sent7971 to413 Jesse,3448 saying,559 Let David,1732 I pray thee,4994 stand5975 before6440 me; for3588 he hath found4672 favor2580 in my sight.5869

22 И послал Саул сказать Иессею: «Пусть Давид останется и служит мне, потому что он мне очень понравился».

23 And it came to pass,1961 when1961 the evil spirit7307 from God430 was upon413 Saul,7586 that David1732 took3947 853 a harp,3658 and played5059 with his hand:3027 so Saul7586 was refreshed,7304 and was well,2895 and the evil7451 spirit7307 departed5493 from4480 5921 him.

23 И каждый раз, когда злой дух от Бога нисходил на Саула, Давид брал арфу и играл на ней. И злой дух покидал Саула, и ему становилось лучше.
